Well, pls correct your video, because the suzuki jimney is also available in south africa
this was made more popular when it was used as the main vehicles used by the famous Space Sheriffs in Japan called Gavan, Sharivan and Shaider>. They drive this to go on patrol Gavan uses Red, Sharivan uses white and Shaider uses Blue... even the new generation used the latest model of Jimny.
I miss my GEO tracker
I remember when this went down. I had no idea a "correction" had been published by Consumer Reports. The original "OMG, don't buy this thing, it will kill you" was on every news broadcast I can remember - I never heard the "OMG, Consumer Reports totally fabricated the whole thing" correction.
haha..consumer report always gave the toyota pick up truck an average/below average ride quality rating but the truck still is the best selling truck in it's segment...and alqaida fighters don't seem to mind riding in the back of it...cr supposedly surveys owners for input but guess never asked the terrorists what their favorite truck is, like all companies cr is out to make a buck and say what it needs to to get subscribers
Suzuki made the hayabusa, what if they make that hayabusa engine (Revive it) then slap some big numbers and put it on a car what I mean is what If they make a sports car that has "mohpowahh" hayabusa engine eh!?
I'm willing the bet that ass who rolled it was speeding and being stupid too before he went full Karen on Suzukis ass. RIP Suzuki
suzuki is tin can in India
When GM, Ford and Chrysler (any American company) see competition is outperforming them instead of getting better they kick them out. The executives were scared they’d be found in the trunk of a car.
Baby wrangler
I grew up off roading with my dad in his 88' samurai
America's loss. Suzuki make several great little vehicles that you'll never get to enjoy.
Here on the mighty Island of Aruba ... the Jimny is still King off and on the road ☺
Regarding that altitude record: The Jimney was heavily modified. The Jeep was bone stock.
Hey INDIA lol finally
From the videos, the Samurai was actually very difficult to roll over despite numerous tries and being a tall offroad SUV.... what a shaddy company CR is...
I vow to never read a single article from Consumer Report ever!!!!!!
I have a conspiracy theory, the fact that America itself wants to protect its own car manufacturer or whatever product manufacturer from oversea competitors.
And the usa still wonders why they can't have cool cars Europe gets
I always wondered what happened to Suzuki. I would always see them on the road but never a dealership. Then i stopped seeing them entirely
My Father in law has one with a 12A Turbo rotary engine LOL it rips hard
I believe the Unimog holds the altitude record now
They were specially modified for the trip, but damn, those are serious vehicles. A tad pricey for the average person, though.
The later models of the Samurai might have been better and safer, but the bad reputation came from the Suzuki 4wd models in the early 80's. They may have corrected the problems of the early versions, but the reputation hangs around for quite a while. If an accident occurs that is relevant to a past issue, even if there were other circumstances it can be hard to overlook for some. The early ones might have been great off-road vehicles but they were dangerous on the roads. I had a friend that flipped one down the center of a road when the front zigzagged as they hit a longitudinal crack on the road. That is difficult to do in most vehicles at the slow speed that these could travel. I personally witnessed one that flipped onto its side when it cornered too fast in a parking lot. Yes.... in a parking lot. It wasn't going very fast and just flipped onto its side. The good part of that was that the vehicle was so small and light, that a few of us were able to flip it back up onto its wheels so they could continue on. These vehicles were just too tall and narrow for how short of a wheel base they had. That size wheelbase made them fantastic off road, but a danger at any speed above a walk while on the road.
I have a 2003 Chevy Tracker ZR2, which is just a chevy badged, Canadian manufactured Suzuki Vitara/Grand Vitara. It has the Suzuki H27 2.7l V-6 in it that stock puts out 185hp. It's a wonderful car that I very much enjoy driving, and is about the closest to the Jimney I think I'll ever get. I have a 4 door amd a 2 door model, both lifted on 4 inch kits, 2.5 suspension/2.5 body. Replaced the low range transfer gears with the 4.24, regular drive to the 5.86 so that when i put my 32s on, the car retained the same drive capability as stock.
My fathers 1993 samurai is about to be mine, brilliant offloader, we take it out multiple times a month, it's the best lightweight, tough and maneuverble vehicle to cut through harsh New Zealand bush. I have amazing memories in it and its still going! Now I just need a Jimmy to give to my future child. Oh and no offense your kiwi accent terrible lol
we got them all in New Zealand and are all road legal haha
I wish I could have one
Same done to Mitsubishi, people forget one of the brands that actually have killed a lot of people was Ford. And even Toyota yet still their still top selling brands
They left canada in 2015:( ......
Suzuki Jimny: what if the Wrangler was more Reliable and Budget Friendly?
As a "Survivor" of a 1975 Suzuki Jimny roll over, I can confirm they turn turtle VERY easily !
@deathwrench custom parts for hot rods, rat rods There was no Jimmy in YOUR country in 1975.
There was no Jimny in 1975. And no, they didn't.
Hope the AE86 doesn't get towed from that "No Parking" spot !!
Consumer Reports: Falsely claims the Samurai is unsafe by manipulating the conditions of a rollover test. Jeep: Stonks
From 20 to a massive 25!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is just a 1985 - 1989 Montero
Jimny UK👍🏻
0:50 is that an Eight-Six?
Love the video. Check out my “Cape York in a 1997 Suzuki Sierra” series below 😍 irworld.info/nick/PLGlGz3YUxkshG0-BbiPo-rtXv_HMjbDl7.html
Just brought over a 1990 Suzuki Jimny with the FA6 660CC 3 cylinder Turbo engine to the states and I’m loving every second of it :)
I read something that maybe...possibly, Toyota could rebrand the Jimny for the North American market since Toyota partially owns Suzuki. Probably not though...
And that’s why I hate journalists
Jesus i didnt know he had a heart attack once. Scary shit
Hasn't hurt Suzuki, 12 month waiting list in Australia
In India they are called as Jipsy and much of them are bought by government and police department
Check out this full throttle compilation I made! irworld.info/show/fy-lm-h-y/q4WhfJiVh7KW2LI.html
I have one!
my dad has a lifted samari and it just got an engine rebuild. it is a stick and is so fun to drive. that is the first car i learned how to drive a stick on
Jimnys. Wow! I am from India and I have never heard of the word even. But after seeing the Jimnys it looked suspiciously similar to the version here 'Gypsy' even the pronounciation is similar. I have never been this informed. Thank you Donut media. My dad used to own one Gypsy as we call it here and it is a very capable machine. The suspensions are not spiring and uses leaf type suspensions which are hard as rock. But for offroad conditions you bet. Where I live is at the north-eastern parts of india in a state called Mizoram. Its rainforest hills upon hills and perfectly suited I'd say. Many government departments also issue the gypsy as official vehicle of the government officers. To where I am also currently owning a 2nd gypsy with fuel injection with me. Its a great vehicle.
I want a Jimny so badly
This brand was sold in India as suzuki gypsy.Mostly owned by police and military
Living in Utah and having Moab close, my sammi has on been on every trail I can find there, not to mention all over the rockies, I h ave never once rolled it. Driving on surface streets, I have never felt it is unstable at any speed! Consumer reports is the most bias, lying, a$$hat liars ever! Nobody with half a brain believes them anymore!!!
Sounds like drump wailing about the election.... all cut and take and hearsay for proof. 17:45 time wasted.
I've got a 80 something Suzuki samurai with a Volvo b21 and it goes pretty everywhere
Did these scumbags go to jail? Thanks for calling them out and naming them.
So glad we're getting the newest Jimny in India🙌❤️ Also please look into Mahindra Thar
Google Jimny G Class. Trust me.
Here in the states they’ve gotten more expensive and harder to find than a tj. A shame, since I’ve always wanted a samurai, and I used to think it would always be a cheaper option than a jeep.
Tuna mountain cayon!!! People longboard it all the time and I actually have an old video of me skating it on this channel
Here in chile the samurai is a legend and nobody ever questioned his security
Yeah, its like a cheap but more reliable Wrangler
Over here in India, Maruti Gypsy has been a hit and is used by police, special forces, forest rangers, miners and even Army to move around. Its a tough and capable car with Suzuki's engine and Maruti's reliability and extensive service network. New Jimny is going to make its way to India in mid 2021 and I cant tell you it will be an instant classic! Gypsy (Jimny) is one of the most iconic cars on Indian market. Too bad it was sabotaged in US only coz it was too good.
I've rolled a Jimny, but I don't blame the car, I blame my driving. Credit to the Jimny though even without roll bars the frame didn't fold in even though we flipped about 4 times before we came to a stop, me and 2 passengers came out unharmed.
Dreadful fuel consumption worst fault put citroen 1.9 deisel in a few
Old type VW van most dangerous especially once fitted with wide wheels and more powerful engines
I had a Samurai that I drove from London to Athens- flat out all the way- it was a great little vehicle- later bought the Tracker version and later on bought the GM Tracker version- all were good. BTW you could skip the silly histrionics and just tell the story in about 7 minutes.
Brah the associated press, Facebook, Instagram, IRworld, and Google have already banned this video .... nothing is fake in America
I bought a brand new 1988 Samurai when they came out and loved it! A brand new car for $6995! Then about 6 months later the BS reports came out. Complete BS but year it killed the brand. I continued to drive mine for 10+ years putting 130,000 miles on it before selling it for $500. I still miss that little thing. Loved it!
It just release in Mexico
Freedom to give false information 🤦♂️ Fuk this world!
My car is a 2004 XL7 EX3 sport auto four-wheel drive 2.7 l import from Japan J series. my car cannot even be used as a trade-in so since it runs perfect and it's almost in mint condition I'm going to pimp it out and be proud and keep it till my last day my only complaint is the tire size the 235/60/16 are not very aggressive tires I want a boulder tire a bigger sidewall and better traction what do you suggest I would like all terrain tires. since the rims are 16 years old wouldn't it be an ideal situation to replace them if I could afford it now?
When the Suzuki Samari came out, they sold tens of thousands of them. Then the Consumer Reports deal screwed them
Those responsible at Consumer Reports should have been dragged from their homes and bound nude to a public wall to shame them, for 90 days. Feed them bread and water only. Then they must join at least one medical forced experiment on themselves, to save an animal. Only then would we would have ensured accuracy. This should be given to the media today.
The lethal crown genetically subtract because cricket scilly license by a breakable bicycle. cowardly, awesome samurai
Unstable, just like every other SUV, if you have high ground clearance, you are going to have a high centre of gravity and a higher propensity to roll over.
Do dodge pickups. D150 is a gift from god
Its my favourite 4x4...I however rolled mine down a Mountain... Definitely needs a wider footprint
Poor Suzuki :(
Funny how Suzuki now has become the Worst brand in terms of safety They crumple like tin cans
I choked laughing when he said the last samurai 😭
The Indian army still uses the maruthi gimni to this day
Imagine trying to ruin the reputation of a freaking car
"That's It! That looks pretty good!" rather telling in itself, no?
It looks like they saw an Jeep rotting in the forest and built a better version
Too bad the new Jimny has no booth. Makes it useless for me which is a shame because it is the only new 4x4 I like.
So basically the reason my x90 has no aftermarket because of this story
I drive a 1990 Geo Tracker and wouldn't trade it for anything.
It is available here in the Dominican Republic. Sorry for you.
Even here in Mexico we are having the new Jimny. Maybe U.S can buy one or two from here, haha.
In india its called the gypsy ..
These Samurai's and Jimny's are one of the most formidable little cars ever made
Every one I know who have one of these love them, super capable off road, cheap to run and mentain and very reliable, I want one too but I can't afford a new one and older ones even from the 90's are still very expensive because they hold their value really well
i got one and love it
No forget medical mafia, you just need to take care of yourself, hint, meatless diet! :)
They did the same thing to Isuzu in 1992, both Suzuki samurai and Isuzu trooper outselled Jeep. What a legit way to keep others out of game. 👎🤮
I’m in the process of building one of these right now
The Jimny is better, but the samurai will tip over from just looking at it.
You are a fool-
14:30 the guy whos talking sounds like Adam West from family guy
Maybe with the release of the new bronco there will be a market here for the samurai to return one day
No more car dealers of this brand now in N.-Amer., they could sell it in motorcycle dealerships as being a luxurious side-by-side in direct competition with the Mahindra Roxor . For the later, even in off-road use only , there must be an American lawyer who will bullshit on it .
IM STILL WAITING FOR THE WORDS CHEVY TRACKER
