There are many things that can overheat in a car, BUT trust me when I say that your engine oil should not be one of those things! So what can actually cause your engine oil to overheat, what is a safe range of operating temperatures, and if it is overheating how do you fix it? Today we’re talking oil coolers! They look cool, we all want them, but are they necessary? Just click the play button, what ya doin!

Good video! K&n 🥰
Units on the side of the dropper, would be another way to measure the oil discharge rate without having to wait for the entire thing to empty.
Dude, I cannot express to you how awesome it is to see a show about how to work on your vehicle that SHOWS all the mess ups! Seems like all the other channels out there, with a few exceptions, sanitize the entire process so its just "Then" to "Now" without any slips, spills, or fails. Keep wrenching!
TJ Hunt: i took the 350Z down the street for a test drive time to do a full oil change with Valvoline VR1 Zach: *tries to catch oil in a dixie cup*
Zach: you can see, its just coming right out the tip Me: hehe nice 🐸
has aluminum wrench, uses one with tape on it
On a serious note, will an oil cooler prolong the life of an engine if your car is stock?
"Any oil leaking under there?" "It's a 25 year old MX5, there's always an oil leak"
What about a Uber/delivery
well done every part. very easy and fun job. i think air cooling in summer doesn’t mean much, water is the real thing.
I thought with all cars after 1999 they have an oil cooler. I had a problem with the oil cooler on my VW passat 2.0 tdi 125 kw. 2010 year. and the oil got into my antifreeze and made shit.
This video didnt answer the question the title asks. is it worth it.
Project Farming that shit. Love it.
Have you ever tested whether it's really worth it to purchase a Dooxi Car Adaptation products?
The average equipment anteriorly irritate because tornado genetically scatter given a courageous kitchen. truculent, bite-sized ketchup
MVP of DONUT right here.
How about FINDING OUT WHAT YOUR OIL TEMP IS before considering an oil cooler? As you rightly say, there is an optimal temp range for your motor oil, the oil manufacturer will gladly tell you what that range is. Don't guess, don't assume. Fit a gauge or take a reading after a good run. Some oil coolers are fitted with a thermostat, but all too often that t'stat is set far too low (160f is common) . Often an oil to coolant heat exchanger is a far better option than an old school 'Air to Oil' cooler.
you should adda high flow oil pump. and a matching filter. some applications, like farmtractors actually have water+oil coller as a single unit. helps keeping the oil and water temps the same. and thats where it should be. specially on a car with a turbo, you want a realy high flow pump and make sure you got proper oil cooling. for me? i can't imagine any 4 stroke engine that would not like an oil cooler. should be mandatory.
Just waiting for the moment of is a engine swap worth it
Me flying thru the snow to get to school in 5 minutes- my car 👁💧
LOVE THIS CHANNEL
Imagine accidently vaping engine oil in the ejuice bottle
Where are your dang safety glasses??!! 😠
i fukn luv this guy so funny lololol
Zach is incredibly charismatic. He's on a professional ass level!
I thought black AN fittings were steel? Unless they just painted them black to match?
Epic fail
Didn’t you total the power steering, how’d you fix it
Well that literally didn’t even answer the question you asked so is it worth it?
working on carpet?..
This is by far the smoothest money pit video i've seen
Snap car looking great didn't know you could install a fucking oil cooler lol really cool!!!
Hey i own a 2003 s10 sr2 and i have a coolant leak and i cant find where its leaking any clues?
Why is zack so attractive in this one... That hair ....
Isn't this a really bad place for the radiator? I mean it can crack really easy down there from rocks and stuff? Anyway got here like few days ago and now its my favorite youtube place to be! Great stuff and keep up the good work!
that oil cooler is a sweet kit! but the location of the rad gives me anxiety lol. i feel like 6 months of rocks and pebbles or one good pot hole and that thing is toast!
For real love this dude!! Thank u!
Things are hot and I’m not helping (what a way to say “I’m soooooooo hot”)😂😂😂
Install is a verb. You don’t do an install, you do an installation.
Even on cement I use a drip pan or cardboard. Coolers should be stock. Oil and engines last longer. Leaks, failure due to cheapo parts, impact damage off-road are some negatives. Trick mount and short lines made that very clean and unobtrusive. Sometimes you see stacked transmission cooler, oil cooler, ac all fighting for a little cool air. If you aren't moving they heat each other up.
What is the intro music?
Fuck, would be a good ass time to work on some shit boxes together 😂
Simple answer- yes. Stop debating
All police cars have oil coolers too - it's not just for hard use, it helps with heat from excessive idling too.
Whats the song in the beginning
So when you do an oil change you just gotta add a little more since you added the oil cooler right? Like what the manual calls for you just add whatever capacity the oil cooler is??
Shouldn‘t the filter have some sort of protection from dirt and stones while driving?
Can you make a video about : do you need canards and splitter and a diffuser? These videos are really helpfull!
www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001753634149.html?spm=a2g0o.store_home.productList_6000155927048.pic_3,Recommend everyone to take a look at this oil cooler, which is very cost-effective
viscous is the word your looking for... hotter oil is not "thinner" but simply more viscous. Viscosity is a specification that you can control btw. which will tell you if you need a cooler.
The whole reason I was putting turbo build off was because I didnt want to crack my oil pan open with a drill to put a pump. lmao.
So the oil is not being filtered any longer?
2 things: 1) Why would you want to not want the oil pressure to drop for just a second? The way I see it, just mount it and then add oil after. Why risk the mess? 2) You added German (high zinc) oil into your Mazda (Asian) oil. Naughty naughty!
Put a pro-charger on it, bet that would be cool
He just made curbs 10X scarier.
just wondering, wouldn't it be a good idea to make some kind of a guard in front of the cooler since it's under the car, like a breathable skid plate or something
Keep in mind that radiators like that can clog more easily. It will ultimately end up reducing the flow rate.
should help with getting the oil filter off for future oil changes as the filter is in the hardest to reach place without removing the front passenger side wheel
*We are double in temprature* Yes, Kelvin !
one rock and those fins are fucked
some days things go the way you'd hope
What is the song that's playing in the background from 3:10 on? Boostedboiz uses it quite a bit for their timelapses
is that SAIPA logo on that trash can? Lol
Wait a minute i remeber you got sponsored by mobil 1 nani oh never mind its fine if my guy uses alot kind of
Dont you just love it when you do a long week project and when you finish theres like 6 nuts left over ......
Most cars/trucks come with oil coolers now a days but 99% of the time they're actually HEATING the oil rather than cooling it. Using engine coolant rather than air for oil cooling lets the thermostatically controlled fluid warm up quickly which in turn then heats the engine oil and automatic transmission fluid to operating temperature much faster. This thins the oils which lets them flow better and consume less power through drag which increases fuel economy while also decreasing emissions. If you really flog it and the oil temps try to get hotter than the coolant temps then and only then does a 'cooler' actually do any cooling.
20-50?! MY GUY? I thought that was way too thick :0
throw a gallon size plastic bag over the oil filter to catch the car goo
Hell me just drivin the Damn thing made the oil cooler! Made the gas a bit cooler, the windows got cooler, hell the paint and allllll that rust Super cool 😎 I'd say we ain't got no problem in that department! 🛢 😎er!
I've heard it's not good to have 2 steel braided lines held together as they can rub against one another and cause a split. Apparently its better to have them separated. Can you confirm or deny this?
Yeah I’m gonna hold the Dixie cup fumbles the oil filter
MoneyPit the best series dont @ me
‘Things are hot and I’m not helping’ so true 😍
Bro if you hit train tracks too fast that cooler is gonna die
"Is an Oil Cooler Worth it?" I dont really feel they answered this question. More like they are saying it "should" be worth it. There wasn't testing of the results of before and after to any level that makes us understand if it is truly worth it. But okay, I get it.
Um... Just curious where the test results are and if they really make that much of a difference. Especially considering there's no fan on this radiator.
The good year mini blimp took all my attention 😂
So glad you left ECS
Don't even get me started with oil cooler... One of the most well known online car part store sold me wrong oil line for my oil cooler. the hose failed and lost most of my oil. i shut off the engine as soon as i noticed low oil pressure light but it was too late i called and complained to them and all i got was 50 dollar gift card.. which i never used
Oil cooler for an automatic transmission in a hot climate or vehicle used to two stuff regularly a great idea Oil cooler for an air cooled motorcycle like my Honda Grom also a good idea
Ay Zach when you pour in any liquid for your car like oil pour it sideways so it won’t pour out wavy. Edit:oh and love the show keep and that s14
Do you need pedal master
Brad Leone of the IRworld car world
This actually seemed easy! Nice kit.
I’m waiting on Flyin Miata for my turbo manifold lol
If you put the lines on the oil cooler with oil in it before mounting it, you will keep from spilling oil while mounting. Also, you should use some blue thread locker on the sandwich plate pass-through bolt to make sure that it stays on when you remove the oil filter during oil changes.
Zach must be heavily into camping...if you look at the background @6:00 into the video, he has a huge backpack with sleeping bag, etc. Those bags are for heavy duty hiking/camping where you carry everything you need on your back.
After the Miata is at peak performance I’d love to see jobe work on something like a s3/a3, but I’d have to be jobe it wouldn’t be the same show without him
Nothing ruins the fun of a streetable track car like cooling issues. Nothing kills longevity like not addressing cooling issues.
Amazing! Never thought I'd be finish watching this video!
Anybody wanting real oil education needs to be on bitog.com . Contrary to popular belief dropping to a thinner grade oil has shown cooler oil temps being that it flows easier pulling more heat away while reducing pumping friction which therefore heats the oil back up. Running molasses thick oil is very old school mentality.
5:08 can't relate any more than that. xD
Nice jams in this one.
So on a Duramax I should bite the bullet and spend 3-8 thousand dollars on a transmission before it’s got over 500 hp
Days we can't wait for: Hearing The Stutututu of the Miata
why dont some of the videos of money pit pop up on the playlist?
That must be the worst place to mount an Oil Cooler.
Ya sure not a bit of oil went down to the carpet!😂
Pretty soon they're going to run out of stuff to do to this car. Are titanium lugnuts worth it? Are Hand-crank windows worth it?
Goodyear blimp!
